The Beauty In The Boring

I make art to introduce people to my view of the world and how I feel. My ambition is to depict the cold beautiful isolated world I live in, but acknowledge that others live in the same world. What sets my style apart from others is my balance between realism and details with emphasis on color and texture. I aim to romanticize the mundane world around me through the glorification of saturated colors, contrast, and liquid-like textures.

My primary influence is Edward Hopper, who captures the essence of 1930's-50's America; round, candy colored, and sleek. But he subtly portrays the struggles, isolation and leisure of the common American. My contemporary influence is Rod Penner, a hyper realistic painter who captures the streets and road sides of modern Middle America; they are cold, rustic, and heavily worn.
